Immediate Protection Importance of Timely Defibrillation
Timely defibrillation is the single most important factor in saving the sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) victim's life.
The LifeVest System offers immediate protection from SCA, providing defibrillation therapy in less than a minute after a life-threatening arrhythmia is detected.
Customized to Patient
When a patient is prescribed and fitted with the LifeVest, that patient's initial ECG becomes the template for comparing the vectorcardiogram of each beat when monitoring the patient.
When an arrhythmia is detected, the patient and any bystanders are notified via audible, visual, and tactile alarms. If the patient is conscious, he or she has the ability to prevent a shock by simultaneously pressing two buttons.
Patients who have an implanted device do not have this ability, and thus could be shocked while conscious.
Fully-Automatic
If the patient loses consciousness and does not prevent the shock, a conductive gel will automatically deploy from the therapy electrodes and a shock will be administered.
Safe and Effective
The shock is administered to restore a patient's heart to its normal rhythm.
The LifeVest's shock was 100% effective at 70 joules*. (See our Clinical Trials page.)
You are encouraged to read some of our patient stories or press releases which provide real-life examples of how the LifeVest saves lives.
The LifeVest's ability to provide immediate protection is another reason it provides peace of mind.
